Press and Destress

To say that the last week or two have been difficult is an understatement. I don’t need to elaborate, we all know what has been happening, and with the escalating tensions in the world, I have had a number of conversations with friends and clients about how this is affecting many of us in a very visceral way. I know that my own anxiety levels have increased due to the alarming events in this country and elsewhere. I have found myself much more emotional than usual and truly craving a relaxing reflexology session even more than I have before during the entire period of lockdown. Don’t get me wrong, it is not that reflexology would solve any of the enormous problems we are facing, I just know that it would give me the breathing space to find the calmness I crave, and allow me to at least think clearly. Being overburdened with stress is not helpful or healthy and we need tools to help us reduce it so that we can function in a more productive way.

Since I am not able to receive reflexology right now, I have been making a conscious effort to work on pacifying points myself, and have found that I am gravitating to certain hand reflexology points over and over again. We all know that hand wringing is something people do instinctively when in distress, possibly in an effort to self-soothe, and the hand/brain connection is perhaps stronger than we realize. Targeting specific points on the hand can calm the mind and reduce the levels of stress hormones in the body. The videos demonstrate how to target some of them.

EDIT: MY anxiety and tension have increased considerably! After recording myself demonstrating the points I wanted to share, my technology challenges have defeated me. Until I figure it out, please refer to another British reflexologist I have found doing a similar demonstration on YouTube. PS When she refers to ‘bog roll’, she means TP! LOL!

Well, I consider myself an insider as I am familiar with a big roll It gave me a good laugh. Found that info quite interesting. Will be using the hand techniques for sure. Do you know if there is a hand spot for sciatica? My back and sciatic are so bad these days. I’m sure stress related for sure.

Got word from my hairdresser they are starting up. Not sure I’m quite ready yet. Going to hold out a bit longer. Need to see how things go. Am concerned about the numbers in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the informative write up. I find them very helpful!

I have just figured out how to reply to comments on my own blog! Reflexology points for sciatica – around the wrist bones, across the base of the palm, and also around the crease of the nostril. Hope you are feeling better by now.
