First Footing

A new year and I’m finally stepping into the world of blogging, a place to share all things reflexology and well-being related. It seems fitting for my first post to be about resolutions which often involve giving something up. Yesterday I came across this article in The Guardian. I love shoes, but could never tolerate the sheer discomfort of a pair of high heels, not without a solid, chunky platform. Flat, clompy (some might say ugly) shoes have always been my domain and comfort zone, no matter what the fashion pages may say, and I would rather change my clothes than compromise comfortable footwear. When the feet hurt, the whole body is affected – it is a pain impossible to ignore – and to my mind, backs up the claims of reflexology that the feet reflect the whole. As someone who now spends a lot of time looking at people’s feet, I find the kind of shoes people choose to wear even more interesting. It’s fascinating that I meet women who are completely at ease in shoes that would be excruciating to me – the human body is amazing in its many differences!
So my resolution won’t be to give up my “ugly” flats, but I will resolve to post regularly – and that may well include news about shoes!
