Shifts Happen

Complete relaxation can have the most profound effects on the mind and body and even on the way we think. I was reminded of this today, the first day of spring, when we experienced yet another round of seemingly endless snow. A client arrived and we spent a few minutes complaining about the weather and commiserating with each other about having to shovel yet again.
During the session, my client went into a very deep relaxation and afterwards commented on how much her thoughts had shifted as her body softened. No longer bemoaning the snowstorm, she commented on how soothing it was to have another blanket of stillness to enjoy at the change of season and that this coinciding with a solar eclipse and a supermoon was quite remarkable.
After she left, I went outside to take in the scene and was thankful to her for sharing her changing perspective. There are many things we can’t change, including the weather, but we can find a different point of view if we allow our thoughts to become flexible and soft. In our stressful world, where things often seem to be out of our control, relaxing the mind, bending with the wind so to speak, is every bit as important for our well-being as relaxing our physical body. Here‘s some music to help you shift your perspective.
